The rear camera setup (16MP + 20MP) is similar to what was included on the standard OnePlus 5 although the secondary sensor is a bit better with an f/1.7 aperture. It has the same design, that uses a metal body with expertly curved corners. Google's smaller Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch screen and some particularly chunky bezels, which are tough to forgive. So, the screen has been stretched out, facial recognition is working well, the fingerprint reader doesn't take up space on the front anymore, and Oxygen OS has been updated to enhance the T experience. The phone will be sporting dual cameras at the back of the device with 20 megapixel and 16 megapixel sensor.

Facial recognition unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds but data-sensitive apps, such as banking, won't work without the fingerprint scanner being touched.

Interestingly, the phone also comes a new "Face Unlock" feature that has over 100 identifiers for distinguishing various faces. "Also, we don't see 5T as a new product but only a new variant of OnePlus 5", Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India says.

The other significant change is in the camera.

The rear camera also got the dedicated Portrait Mode, where it blurs the background and also lowers the noise by using both sensors. This phone clearly targets customers who didn't upgrade to the OnePlus 5, possibly because they were holding out for something with a more expansive display.

The camera is the other notable change, with OnePlus replacing the telephoto lens for another F1.7 lens with the same focal length as the primary shooter. The OnePlus 5T is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and has up to 8GB RAM. However, OnePlus does say that an update to Oreo will be provided at a later date.

OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau said at the OnepLus 5T launch event that while the feedback on OnePlus 5 was positive, there were areas where the company saw room for improvement to create an even better user experience.
