The first was the third-generation C3 Corvette, which offered a ZR1 package that included a hotter engine, a performance suspension, revised transmission, and upgraded brakes.

Tech wise, the ZR1 doesn't initially look to be as well-equipped as some European cars, but it appears to have a standard touchscreen infotainment system, likely GM's MyLink system which offers features such as data connections and iOS And Android phone integration. It's an all-American, honest-to-goodness supercar, "a lovely beast", as chief designer Tom Peters put it succinctly.

Here is a quick rundown of the key facts on the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and it should be noted that these are all official figures - not something taken from a magazine or internet forum. We still think a Chevy DOHC V-8 is coming, but this isn't it. Its 755bhp and 715lb ft of torque make the auto the most powerful Corvette - and most powerful Chevrolet - built to date.

The Corvette ZR1 has finally been revealed, and as expected it's a numbers machine. Paired to either a seven-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission, it can reach a top speed of 210 miles per hour. GM's Magnetic Ride Control is fitted as standard. So stay tuned for more updates on the speed monster to come.

Helping to chill everything out will be critical whether you're driving in the brutal heat of a climate like Dubai's or lapping your favorite circuit. The ZR1's front fascia was totally redesigned to optimize airflow and is essentially one giant intake. A new carbon fiber "halo" hood rises high and is open in the center in order to clear the bigger supercharger and intercooler. "The new hood is a bunch of different pieces and was an enormous craftsmanship challenge".

It's pretty, and pretty much everything you could want from a Corvette. And two rear wing styles are available, each tied directly to the car's chassis as in the Corvette C7.R racing vehicle. Actually, make that wings.

A low wing package decreases downforce in comparison, but it's with this package that the claimed 210mph top speed can be achieved.

Chevrolet is calling this the most powerful and fastest Corvette of all time. The High Wing option also brings about the optional ZTK Performance Package, arriving with its own front splitter with carbon fiber end caps.

The ZR1 ushered supercharging into the Corvette's wheelhouse almost a decade ago, and this C7 ZR1 assures it's alive and well.

Two rear wing designs are available for the 2019 Corvette ZR1, each tied directly to the chassis just like with the Corvette C7.R racing auto.

Inside, Motor Trend says, the new ZR1 features leather seats with "suede-like microfibre" highlights, along with "an option to make them heated and cooled".

A Sebring Orange Design Package is available, including bright "arrest-me-now" exterior paint combined with matching interior stitching and seat belts, as well as bronze aluminum interior trim.
