After widespread condemnation over a viral video that showed traffic police officers towing a auto, which had a woman breastfeeding her baby, in India's Mumbai, a constable has been suspended by the department. In the second video, Jairaj is seen standing with the kid, while Jyoti is in the vehicle. The video also shows the man telling the cop not to tow the auto.

"The events prior to the actual towing, as shown in these fresh videos, will also be a part of the enquiry besides the video in which the auto is being seen towed away", a police officer said.

The couple had parked their vehicle in a no-parking area at Malad West on Friday evening. "I got in the auto and they started towing the vehicle".

Later, the woman told media stating, "My husband requested the traffic cop to take the fine amount and release our vehicle". The constable is seen getting down and then again hopping back in the van and continuing to tow the vehicle. But the constable wouldn't agree. But the constable refused to spare our vehicle and towed it while I was seated inside with the baby.

According to the officials, a man uploaded the video of the incident on social media, which has gone viral.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called the incident insensitive and unsafe.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had also condemned the incident and had told ANI: "It is very unfortunate and absolutely insensitive and unsafe to tow the vehicle with the lady and the child inside. However, the traffic cop was adamant and did not listen to us", said Mali.

The constable, who doesn't have a name badge, is identified as Shashank Rane, and ignores the pleas.

After the video went viral on the internet, immediate action was taken on the traffic cop named Shashank Rane and he was suspended on Saturday.

Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amitesh Kumar ordered an urgent investigation that will be conducted by the deputy commissioner of police.

Reacting to the clip, Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the government will take stringent action against officers abusing their power. Hence, pending inquiry, the constable has been placed under suspension. "The cop is suspended and orders have been given to sensitise traffic cops so as to prevent such incidents".
