The Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade has rekindled a great tradition where veterans are enthusiastically cheered as they walk down Tejon Street, said Lonny L.J. Barrett, parade executive assistant and 20-year Navy veteran. The parade was organized by the Colorado Veterans Project.

Halifax will also be holding a ceremony at 9 Town Hall with speakers and wreaths being placed at nearby monuments.

The ODVA will host its Veterans Day Celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday at the WWII Memorial in Salem.

A ceremony to honor veterans is planned at the Hill of Heroes in Eastside Park at 11 a.m. Saturday. Music begins at noon, with the parade scheduled for 1 p.m. and a prayer and follow-up program in the park gazebo after the parade ends.

At 11 a.m. the Cohasset VFW Post will be holding a brief program at the Veterans Park at the Harbor.

Plymouth and Pembroke will both be holding events at 11 a.m. with Pembroke's ceremony taking place at the Middle School. A wreath-laying ceremony will be at Meetinghouse Park across from the courthouse to honor veterans of World War II, the Civil War and the Gulf War to present.

For those who can't attend, the Courier will be showing live video of the parade from the newspaper office on Main Street.
