National Basketball Association set to announce that Chicago will host the 2020 All-Star Game

The NBA announced on Friday that Chicago has been selected to host NBA All-Star 2020, which will take place at the United Center, home of the six-time NBA champion Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls announced Thursday they would make a "major announcement" with the National Basketball Association on Friday at 2 p.m.at the United Center.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement during a press conference at the United Center.

"We are honored that the National Basketball Association has selected Chicago to host All-Star 2020", said Reinsdorf.

A person familiar with the situation said the All-Star festivities will be held in the Windy City in 2020. That year Bulls legend Michael Jordan and Atlanta's Dominique Wilkins put on a show in one of the best NBA Slam Dunk Contests ever. "We understand the cultural impact that the All-Star Game will provide for Chicago". The 69th annual game will take place at the United Center, home of the six-time National Basketball Association champion Chicago Bulls, on Sunday, February 16th. The 2020 All-Star weekend will mark the third time that the city of Chicago has had the honor of hosting the NBA's stars - 1973 and 1988 being the others. The city, not just the stadium, will host this event.

Los Angeles is set to host the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, and Charlotte, who lost the 2017 game amid controversy over the state of North Carolina's controversial "bathroom bill", will host the 2019 contest.
