Senior quarterback Mason Rudolph passed for three touchdowns and sophomore running back Justice Hill ran for three as No. 15 Oklahoma State rallied for a 49-42 victory over No. 21 Iowa State on Saturday in Big 12 play at Ames, Iowa. The Cowboys defense subsequently forced a three-and-out and got the ball back with five minutes left.

The Cyclones tied the game right before half.

After Rudolph helped put Oklahoma State on top 49-42 with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Stoner with 3:47 remaining, Montgomery almost brought the Cyclones back.

Lanning also posted a productive day offensively, scoring on a tough one-yard run and then tossing a 22-yard strike to Lazard for a score. Due to costly penalties by the Cyclone's defense, Oklahoma State had not one, not two, but three attempts at a two point conversion and were able to capitalize with a one yard run from Hill to tie the game at 42.

Iowa State's last two games are on the road at Baylor and Kansas State, a pair of games that are winnable. But Montgomery found the end zone on a 4-yard run just 65 seconds later to give Iowa State a 42-34 edge.

Iowa State played the second half with Zeb Noland at quarterback after Kyle Kempt left with an injury in the first half. Replay confirmed the interception and Oklahoma State was able to kneel it out for the win. Noland threw for 263 yards. The score was 21-21 at the end of two quarters. A 91 yard, seven play drive, was punctuated by a Joel Lanning one yard touchdown run.

The win keeps Oklahoma State in the race for a berth in the Big 12 championship game, while the loss realistically ends Iowa State's conference title hopes.

Oklahoma State retook the lead on its first series of the second half, getting a 35-yard field goal by Matt Ammendola to go ahead 24-21 with 10:17 left in the third.

But since Oklahoma State won, both teams can breathe easier.

David Montgomery rushed for 106 yards and 3 TD's.
