A few other highlights of the Ford Ecosport facelift include the AC which is said to bring down the cabin temperature from 50 degrees to 25 degrees in 15 minutes, a floating eight inch touch screen infotainment system with Sync 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice command; an all new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine and an all new six speed automatic transmission.

Ford has finally launched its refreshed EcoSport compact SUV with prices starting at Rs 7.31 lakh for the base Ambiente trim, going up to Rs 10.99 lakh for the top-spec Titanium+ variant (all prices ex-showroom, India). The updated model is available in 10 variants - five are petrol and five diesel.

Redesigned with close to 1600 new parts, the Ford EcoSport facelift features a reshaped front, and a large upper trapezoidal grille and lower grille.

"The all new EcoSport reinforces our commitment to the Indian market.We have increased the level of localisation to 85 per cent from around 60-65 per cent when the model was first launched in 2013", Ford India Managing Director and President Anurag Mehrotra told reporters here.

The 1.5L TDCi diesel engine churns out 91Ps power and a peak torque of 204Nm and comes mated to a manual transmission; while the 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol engine offers 112Ps of power and 140Nm of peak torque. The Ford Ecosport is what started a new segment in itself with the compact SUV seeing competition from Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon. The 1.5 liter diesel engine will be the same as the one found on Ford Aspire and Ford Figo. In comparison the hotselling Vitara Brezza is priced at Rs 7.24-9.91 lakh. It comes mated to a five-speed manual as well as a completely new six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, which replaces the erstwhile dual clutch transmission (DCT) unit. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency of the EcoSport petrol is 17 km/l and 14.8 km/l for the manual and automatic variants respectively.

The EcoSport facelift is offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.
