The Swedish supercar topped the Bugatti Veyron's 267mph world record - and even beat the Hennessey Venom GT's unofficial 271mph.

Machines like the Agera RS are custom-built for individual buyers, often selling for well over $1 million. There's also a removable roll cage for safety purposes.

The 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 is identical to the one in One:1, and outputs 1,360 PS when E85 fuel is used. The vehicle also managed to complete all of its records using just one set of stock, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. With the real hypercar style of ultra-Luxe, the company has shut down the section of state route 160 between Pahrump and Las Vegas, Nevada, while the test routes were very much conventional.

Then there's the flying mile on a public road record, with the Koenigsegg Agera RS averaging 276.36 miles per hour (444.66 km/h) over the two runs.

To qualify for the record books, a vehicle will need to perform runs in opposite directions.

The Agera actually hit 457.49km/h in the second run, which was mostly downhill, but the first run's less forgiving topography saw it reach "just" 436.44km/h, which brought the average down.

All vehicle data was recorded independently by Racelogic and the film above is taken directly from the Racelogic system, with data overlaid for video presentation. You might also remember only a few days ago reading about the same auto setting a new top speed record for production cars. Well, that record has been shattered (again) as the Agera RS managed to set a new record time of 33.29 seconds, which is almost six seconds more than what the Chiron accomplished in September, and 3.15 seconds than the carmaker's own record set in October.

Ok, perhaps they're pushing this whole record thing a bit far here, but for the record the Agera RS also recorded the world's fastest flying "mile" (equivalent of 1.6km) on a public road, with an average of 444.55km/h.
