Sunshine is back today with cool temperatures

Highs will make it into the low 40s at best ahead of the cold front. We will have a mostly cloudy to partly cloudy sky.

Fall-like temperatures will finally be in our area for the weekend and we'll have plenty of sunshine for Friday with highs in the upper-60's.

Rain chances are minimal through the rest of the week, but Thursday does bring the chance for a few late day showers. Still, highs are pegged for only the low 40s.

As a cold front moves through the state Tuesday, there will be a wide range in temperatures across central North Carolina.

Friday is drier and starts out chilly, in the low 50s.

Tomorrow morning we will be mild sitting in the low 50s but we will not warm up much through the day.

Thursday will be the only day this week in which precipitation is possible, and the chances don't look all that high. Wednesday night there will be variable cloudiness with low temperatures in the lower to mid 30s. Wednesday remains cloudy, cool, and a bit breezy with a chance for lingering showers and drizzle. The cool temperatures in place over the Northern Rockies are part of a Polar High that will gradually shift south and east this week. Rain will be likely area-wide by the overnight hours as the main batch of rain moves through.

NEXT WEEK: Monday is partly sunny, with temperatures near 50 degrees.
