Meek Mill Sentenced To 2-4 Years In Prison, Hip-Hop Reacts

Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison on Monday after a Philadelphia judge ruled that he'd violated his probation.

The Philly native and recording artist was already on thin ice after a city judge put him on house arrest in 2015 for leaving Pennsylvania for a gig without court approval.

Brinkley, according to media reports from the courtroom, pointed to violations of parole including scheduling concerts in violation of her orders.

And there was drama in court as the exasperated Judge Genece E. Brinkley told the 30-year-old he had been "thumbing your nose" at her after she had given him multiple opportunities to go straight.

Meek reportedly assumed the judge's laughter after her suggestion meant that the request was a joke until she allegedly said, "I'm not kidding".

Presuming the sentence stands - when asked whether he was going to appeal, the rapper's lawyer, Brian J. McMonagle, said "You're god- right I am" - that would take Mill out of circulation until at least the close of the decade.

Besides his music, Mill is known for his two-year relationship with leading female rapper Nicki Minaj, which ended earlier this year.

Meek was arrested in March for misdemeanor assault charges and again in August for reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

"Was wit u then & WE STILL WIT U NOW!" This too shall pass.

Among those who extended their support to Meek during this time is JAY Z who released a statement shortly after news of his sentencing was made public. "I'm asking for mercy". Always here for you man!
