Airtel announces data rollover for broadband users

India's leading telecom operator, Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched the "Data Rollover" facility for its home broadband customers that will allow users to carry forward all unused monthly data and add to the data benefit of the next billing cycle. Just like Airtel Secure, Vodafone's RED Shield Device Security is also bundled with the plan.

Dubbed as Vodafone RED postpaid plans, the new series ranges from Rs 499 to Rs 2,999 a month. Top this up with Airtel's lucrative data roll over promise and their postpaid package suddenly seems like an extremely attractive proposition. Also for entertainment users can enjoy Netflix up to 12-months.

"The decision of Jio to increase the data payment 2x on its lowest Rs 149/month pack to 4 GB indicates its attempts to elevate the value proposal of low-end schemes since higher costs might boost churn in the more cost-sensitive sectors", UBS claimed to the media in a note. "Deutsche Bank claimed that pricing trends of Jio recommend a progressive normalization of industry pricing, which was considerably affected by its free roll out scheme in September last year". Customers can accumulate up to 1000 GB data* depending on there plans and additional data packages. The company also introduced a new prepaid plan for prepaid users under which it is offering 70GB of data. Similarly, the Rs. 1,299 plan offers same benefits but it offers 350GB data and bonus data is same 1000GB.

Airtel also came up with the prepaid plan of Rs 448, which offers unlimited local and STD calls, unlimited outgoing calls on national roaming and 70 GB data. There is another plan which offers unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, 1GB data per day and a free subscription to Vodafone Play for Rs 392. The plan is applicable for Idea prepaid users and comes with 28 days of validity.
