'Shameless' star arrested for DUI

It is not known if the arrest was for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The actor, who is only 18-years-old, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Thursday night in the L.A. area.

Cutkosky, who plays trouble-prone youth Carl Gallagher on the Showtime series "Shameless", was arrested last week on suspicion of DUI last week, a spokesman for the Burbank Police Department told TheWrap on Tuesday.

Cutkosky was pulled over Wednesday after straddling lanes, Burbank police Sgt. John Pfrommer said according to the Associated Press. According to authorities, ge performed poorly in field sobriety tests.

Authorities are now awaiting the results of a blood test to draw up charges.

Law enforcement said officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle during the stop, and TMZ sources said Ethan admitted he'd been smoking weed that night.

The actor is due in court November 29.

A representative for Cutkosky did not immediately return HuffPost's request for comment.

Cutkosky has a regular role on the cable series "Shameless", which stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. His arrest came days before the eighth season of the show premiered on Sunday. Last season, after helping sell illegal drugs and firearms, Carl cleaned up his act and went to military school.
