Tennessee nurse serenades dying patient with her favorite song

A video of a nurse singing to a dying cancer patient has gone viral on Facebook.

Crystal Roberts, a friend of Smith for 15 years, recorded the video from her bedside.

"But she didn't leave the hospital without the voice of an "angel" singing her on", Roberts said in her post.

Cancer patient Margaret was admitted to hospital in Nashville, US, after her health declined but doctors said she was too sick for a transplant.

"Words can't depict the thankfulness and love we feel for nurture Olivia who mother calls her blessed messenger!"

'Miss Marg has touched my heart in such an indescribable way, ' Olivia wrote on Facebook.

In a post, Megan wrote: 'This nurse sat with my mom for hours while [she suffered from the effects of] too much Anesthesia and sang a very special song to my sweet mother to comfort her.

Margaret told Roberts on several occasions that Olivia was an angel - and Roberts says she knows that to be true.

'Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen, you truly are a beam of light and I can not thank you enough for the care and compassion and love you shared for my mother. "God favor you, Olivia!" I hope the angels know what they have.

Another nurse could be heard in the background telling Smith also not to cry.

"Those lyrics right there bring me to tears", the nurse added.

Neufelder encouraged Smith to join in, and Smith's chin quivered as she sang.

Margaret is made due by her little girl, Megan, and a child, both in their 20s.

Margaret sadly passed away at a nursing home on Wednesday.

"It was really hard", she said.

Smith is survived by a daughter and son in their early 20s. She will be laid to rest on Friday.
