At least seven martyred, 22 injured in Quetta truck bombing

At least six persons, including six policemen, were killed today when Pakistani militants targeted police van in the restive Baluchistan's capital Quetta, police said.

The spokesman of Quetta Civil Hospital, Wasim Baig, confirmed that the center received seven bodies.

Soon after explosion, heavy contingents of police and Frontier Constabulary reached at the spot and cordoned off the area.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the vehicle bombing, which took place in the Saryab Road area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan. According to hospital staff, the condition of seven injured was critical.

The Pakistani Taliban said the attack was a "suicide mission".

"Such cowardly acts will not deter the government and people of Balochistan from doing their duties", Bugti said, adding the fight will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.

Violence has declined in Pakistan after the army conducted a series of offensives against Islamist militants since 2014, however the groups still possess the capability to launch surprise attacks on security forces and civilian targets. "Balochistan is on the forefront of this fight and we will not stop until there is not a single terrorist left in the area", Bugti said.

In a separate incident, Police Inspector Abdul Salam was shot dead on Quetta's Qambrani Road, in what security sources claim was a targeted killing. PM Abbasi expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives during the terrorist attack.

In a bomb attack on vehicle carrying security forces in city of Quetta, Pakistan, 4 security guards, 2 of which were passed during explosion, 6 people lost ir lives. On August 13 this year, at least 15 people, including eight soldiers, were martyred when a military truck was targeted in Quetta.

Chief Minister of Balochistan Sanaullah Khan Zehri condemned the attack and called for the best possible medical treatment to the injured.

The attack took place on Sibi Road in Sariab area.
