Facebook India MD Umang Bedi quits; Bhushan named interim head

Facebook India and South Asia Managing Director Umang Bedi is leaving the company after a little more than a year with the company. In the statement, Facebook noted, "We confirm that Umang Bedi will be leaving his role and Facebook at the end of this year. He has built a strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best". Bedi, who joined Facebook last July, will stay with the company for another three months for a smoother transition, the company said.

Prior to joining Facebook, Bedi served as the managing director of the South Asia region at Adobe.

"India is the most strategic market for Facebook and the country will push the company's goal to connect the next one billion people", Bedi had said past year. Mr. Bhushan is also a former Samsung IT & Mobile Business Director and The Digital VP of HT Media.

"Our vision for business in India is to be loved and become a trusted brand, to be deeply integrated into the fabric and to provide the experiences which are relevant and valuable to all people who are on our platform, including partners", Bedi noted.
