Masuluke's goal still in race for Puskas Award

The Baroka shot-stopper's stunning strike in the dying minutes of the match against Orlando Pirates in November past year has made it into the top three where he is competing against French striker Olivier Giroud and Venezuela's Deyna Castellanos.

Meanwhile, Masuluke's overhead goal for Baroka FC against Orlando Pirates saw the South African create history in more ways than one.

On Monday, Fifa confirmed the final three-man shortlist for the prize, which will be handed out in London on 23 October.

His goal, a bicycle kick from the edge of the area to earn an injury time 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 30 November, was the favourite amongst local fans.

Giroud's extraordinary strike, which created headlines around the world due to its creativity and technical brilliance, means the Arsenal striker is the first Frenchman to reach the final three.

SAFA is calling all South Africans to vote for Oscarine Masuluke for the 2017 Puskas Awards.

"Vote now to decide which of Deyna Castellanos, Olivier Giroud and Oscarine Masuluke will be crowned the successor to Mohd Faiz Subri as the victor of the 2017 Fifa Puskas Award".

The total from each round of voting will be added together to decide the victor, who will be crowned at the awards ceremony later this month.

The public can vote for the award on FIFA's official website with the victor being announced on Monday October 23 at the award ceremony in London.
