Mustafi faces long spell on sidelines with hamstring injury

Mustafi, 25, went down clutching his leg during the first half of Germany's World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan before being carried off the pitch.

How much do you think the Mustafi injury will hurt Arsenal?

Germany ran out 5-1 victor against Azerbaijan in their World Cup qualifier on Sunday, but Mustafi did not see out the match and is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Sport Witness reports that while some have claimed that Mustafi's muscles were "shredded" which would see the defender miss a couple of months, the truth isn't as bad. "We're waiting for a full diagnosis, but it looks like he will be out for a while." .

Picking up the most negative comments in Germany could have one believing Mustafi's muscles have been shredded, whereas going with the "few weeks" angle sounds more promising.

Germany's medical team were concerned Mustafi would be a doubt for their next global break, Sky Sports reports, which includes a friendly against England at Wembley on November 10 but are waiting for updates from Arsenal over the next few days. It is feared the former Valencia defender could be out until the global break in November, meaning the German worldwide will miss games against Watford, Swansea, Everton, both Europa League fixtures against Red Star Belgrade, and an away trip to Manchester City.

This would mean Nacho Monreal, not a natural center-back, Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding as the only fit senior center-backs at the club after Gabriel Paulista was sold to Valencia last summer.
