Kevin De Bruyne: Bosnia pitch worst I have played on since childhood

Belgium's Kevin de Bruyne has criticised the conditions of the pitch in Sarajevo and called them "unacceptable" to play on, fearing getting injured.

De Bruyne played the full 90 minutes, and slammed the pitch's surface - which as bumpy and had troubled both teams, saying that such a poor pitch would lead to player injury. Listen to the latest episode and subscribe to the podcast on Deezer and iTunes.

I was anxious I'd get injured.

Vertonghen played a crucial role in the 4-3 victory, scoring the goal that put Belgium 3-2 ahead on the night.

As it stands Northern Ireland will definitely be in the play offs as the result means they can not finish in 9th place in the best runners up table.

"This mud, it brings back good memories of when I was young, when you play in the garden and the pitch quickly turns into a potato patch".

To make matters worse for Belgium, Haris Medunjanin equalised for the home side just 40 seconds after he left the field, following Thomas Meunier's opener. Bosnia's defeat means that whoever finishes second in Group H will not have more than 13 once their points against bottom team Gibraltar have been subtracted.

Defender Dario Djumic rekindled Bosnia's hopes with a 82nd-minute header, only for Yannick Carrasco to score less than a minute later.

Coach Roberto Martinez said the surface had made it "impossible to play any tactics".

"Our team spirit won the game, not any tactics".

Scotland, meanwhile, will also be assured of a play-off place if they win their final qualifier against Slovenia - and Northern Ireland need only a point against Norway.
