CBI questions Tejashwi Yadav in IRCTC hotel scam

He was accompanied by his daughter and Rajya Sabha MP, Misa Bharti, who was asked to wait in the lobby.

The CBI on July 5 filed a corruption case against Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav for alleged irregularities in the allotment of contracts for IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006 to a private firm when the RJD chief was the Railway Minister. They are following orders of the government of India which is acting out of political vendetta against me and my family.

Amid this furore in the RJD taking a dig JD (U) spokesperson Nikhil Mandal said "RJD and its leaders should first look how to manage his party, his own leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh rather than dreaming of managing the State". "They are doing what Indian Government is telling them or instructing them", he said.

Lalu did not speak to the media while entering the CBI headquarters in New Delhi at 11am Thursday.

Yadav averred that the CBI are innocent on their part, and are in mere compulsion to proceed with the investigation as part of their duty. "I had stopped pilferage in railways, made it cost efficient, improved revenue and now I am being blamed for corruption".

"I will uproot the communal and fascist elements even if I'm hanged".

The CBI's FIR alleged that the RJD leader, as the railway minister, abused his official position for extending undue favours to the company and acquired a "high value premium land" through a benami firm, Delight Marketing Company.

After the tender was awarded to Sujata Hotel, the ownership of Delight Marketing also changed hands from Sarla Gupta to Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav between 2010 and 2014.

His son Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar, is scheduled to appear before the agency on Friday. The upkeep of BNR hotels were transferred by the IRCTC to Sujata Hotels through an alleged rigged and manipulated tender process managed by P K Goel, the then MD IRCTC, CBI said.
