As part of a new promo, Bethesda and HTC are including a pre-order code "while supplies last". HTC announced that if you purchase a HTC Vive virtual reality headset starting from October 2, you will get a free copy of Fallout 4 VR.

Fallout 4 VR is not a VR "experience", it's essentially the full game, with the look functionality bound to your headset, rather than a mouse or joystick. Fallout 4 VR will then follow on December 12, right after the conclusion of PlayStation Experience (PSX).

That's not a bad deal as Fallout 4 VR will retail for $59.99 when it releases and you know that you're going to want a killer app for your new VR setup, as freeware and demos will only satisfy you for so long. And now, as an HTC Vive exclusive, it's just got even easier to get for VR newcomers. And according to Joel Breton, general manager of Vive Studios, the virtual reality version of the post-apocalyptic RPG will have the same content as its console and PC counterparts, with hundreds of locations, characters, and quests fully playable in VR. Still, with triple A developers now jumping on board, it seems like a good time to be a virtual reality headset owner.

Software is one of the areas where VR needs to thrive to maintain interest as hardware becomes more accessible and bigger names are regularly getting involved.

HTC Vive users shouldn't fret, however, as all the updates and improvements introduced for the Oculus Rift version will also be made available to HTC Vive users for free as part of an update.

The freedom of exploring the wasteland comes alive like never before when experienced using Vive's superior room-scale technology. The subscription lets you play any of Viveport's 200-plus games.
