But while some users get some good mileage out of additions to Messenger, others find the upgrades to be mere fluff.

Now the messenger lite is making its way to US, UK, Canada, and Ireland. Sadly, it is limited to Android users and Facebook has not disclosed any timeline for launching the app for iOS users.

Facebook Messenger Lite is a lean app that focuses on the essentials with primary focus on messaging, rather than Snapchat-like filters, or games that are now available on the main Messenger app.

Messenger Lite is like a scaled down version of the original Messenger app, without a number of features from the app including the Snapchat-like features and games, which provides for a quicker and more user friendly messaging app. More specifically, Android phone owners can download the app.

Facebook Messenger Lite made its way into India in July. The senior officials also told that the app would utilize much less data connection as matched to other social networking sites or applications.

'Messenger Lite is a slimmed-down version of Messenger that offers the core features of the app, while giving everyone the opportunity to stay connected to their friends and family, regardless of device or quality of internet connectivity'.

The Lite version of the app has been popular among users in Western markets, with many of them sideloading it to their devices.

Messenger emoji were introduced a little over a year ago as a way of unifying emoji between platforms, but Facebook is reverting to the emoji that the actual Facebook service uses for an unknown reason.

Now, the choice is yours, either you can prefer the sticks-to-the basics Lite designs or go back to the regular Messenger app.
