Observers predicted an increase in U.S. drone attacks inside Pakistan when Trump came into power, but since January there have only been a few.

USA drones have been bombing Pakistan's tribal belts since June 2004, many times killing ordinary civilians, and fuelling anger among its population.

Responding to lawmakers' questions on Wednesday, Bass said the USA "will not succeed if we do not have the support and cooperation" of Pakistan, its neighbours and the wider circumference of significant countries in the region.
