With news that Colin Trevorrow has left directorial duties for Star Wars: Episode IX, eyes are on Rian Johnson, who is now working on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The executioner stormtrooper is also seen with the new modified helmet for The Last Jedi which comes with a smaller "mouth". A few days later Lucasfilm announced via StarWars.com that J.J. Abrams will write and direct the sequel finale.

Del Rey, the publishing company that handles numerous Star Wars books, revealed on Twitter that the novelization of the upcoming movie will be released March 6, 2018.

The actor famous for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films has hilariously endeared himself to a legion of football fans courtesy of an accidental tweet. Now I'm just thinking about putting the movie out there and seeing how audiences respond to it. 'My very good friend, the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is in a movie I made called Looper, he does a cameo as a voice of an alien in the film.

It was very gratifying for me that Mark and Daisy and the whole rest of the cast were very shocked by some of the things that happened in the script. It's the first time I'm revealing that!'

Alongside directing Gordon-Levitt in Looper, Johnson previously worked with him on 2008 directorial debut "Brick".

Kylo Ren is fascinating and a layered character with many weaknesses, which he shows the "chinks in Kylo's armor" throughout the film.
