Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen returns after tearing his ACL in the team's season opener a year ago. There was an emotional 9/11 tribute.

Adrian Petersen rolls back in to Minnesota, but with the New Orleans Saints.

The first week of the NFL regular season wraps up tonight with a Monday Night Football double-header, featuring the New Orleans Saints at the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Chargers at the Denver Broncos.

Last year, Bradford started the year out hot, leading the Vikings to a 5-0 record. This time, with seemingly way more distractions? Vikings put a strangle hold on it.

It was unsuccessful, but the effort was made to get the veteran into the end zone.

"It's the National Football League; there's always a storyline", Vikings safety Harrison Smith said. If they can do these six things it should be all but over. In any case, the rookie out of Florida State is primed to take the Vikings offense out of the Adrian Peterson stone age and give it the modern amenity of a running back who can functionally do it all. "No. Listen, I'd tell you if we were in a heated exchange, so why don't you ask him?"

Bradford finished the evening 27-of-32 passing for 346 yards with three touchdowns and a career-best passer rating of 143. Tom Brady completed 16 of 36 passes for 267 yards and no touchdowns.

"It felt great", Cook said.

The Vikings certainly did that. My pick for Defensive Player of the Year, Bosa is back in a 4-3 system that suits his skillset, and he's ready to feast on opposing quarterbacks with bad offensive lines.

This may go beyond Belichick pumping the tires of New England's next opponent.

Well, that future is now.

After releasing Peterson, the Vikings drafted running back Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

"They just did a great job", Peterson said of the play. I want to stick it to everyone we play.

Peterson was so important that the team did whatever it could to protect the franchise's most valuable asset.

At first, Peterson said the brief exchange, video of which circulated on the internet during the game, was "confidential" and "just communication". Before Peterson found himself in the middle of a awful child abuse scandal (a scandal for which he still has little, if any, remorse), he WAS the Vikings. He finished the game with just six carries, the same as backfield mate Mark Ingram and less than rookie Alvin Kamara.

The Broncos and Chargers also missed the postseason previous year. He was greeted by huge ovations throughout the evening. This stunning accomplishment failed to impress many fans, because it occurred as the Vikings collapsed, and was partly due to Bradford playing behind a line so porous that he had little choice but to throw quickly, and short. Both games will be airing on ESPN, as well as the WatchESPN app.

Someday Peterson will also likely join the Vikings Ring of Honor.
