Powerball Jackpot Grows to $430 Million

In an unusual coincidence, the jackpots in the two biggest USA lotteries - Mega Millions and Powerball - had topped $300 million at the same time.

The ticket matched five of the six numbers drawn for the February 21 drawing and was purchased at a 7-Eleven store on North George Bush Freeway in Garland. According to ABC News, the winning ticket was purchased at Nick's Barbecue in Palos Heights. The overall odds of winning any prize from a $2 ticket are 1 in 24.87. However, that amount was shared between several ticket holders.

In 2016, three winners in California, Florida and Tennessee hit the whopping $1.5 billion jackpot.

"You see more people in line buying both tickets when both games are over $300 million", a spokesman for the National Association of Convenience Stores, Jeff Lenard, told CNN Money. That drawing is Wednesday night. The victor will also get to take home cash amounting to $224 million.

About Us: The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state lottery to direct all proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. In its history, 11 Mega Million jackpots have been won in August. The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were 23, 33, 53, 56, 58, and Mega Ball 6. For Powerball, the figure stands at one in about 292.2 million.
