Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made his fourth Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Prime Minister Naredra Modi hoists the national flag at the Red Fort in India's capital city of Delhi. He said "Our fight against black money and corruption will continue".

Good governance is about speed and simplification of processes.

- This is special year as it marks 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, 100th anniversary of Champaran Satyagraha & 125th anniversary of Ganesh Utsav. The Indian media reported signals about a possible shift in Prime Minister Modi's policy towards the disputed state.

"GST (Goods and Services Tax) has shown that the spirit of cooperative-competitive federalism has gained strength. Kashmir's problems can only be solved by embracing Kashmiris", Modi said in his televised national address amid tight security.

"Violence in the name of faith is not acceptable in the country", Modi said and termed communalism and casteism as a "poison".

Underlining that "India is the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Buddha", he said the culture of the country is to take everyone along on the path of development.

- The PM finally broke silence on Gorakhpur tragedy where almost 60 children died in a government hospital due to shortage of oxygen supply.

"We are not alone in our fight against terrorism; many countries are actively supporting us". However after the recent passage of the Benami Act, within a short span of time, government has confiscated Benami property worth Rs. 800 crores when these things happen, common men feel that this country is for the honest people. He strongly condemned the use of violence in the name of faith, and said this will not be accepted in India. One of its senior leaders, Anand Sharma, said: "PM Modi mentioned surgical strike (against Pakistan) in his speech which is about a year old. There will be no type of softness against terrorism", he said, adding, "We are committed to restoring Kashmir's status of heaven on earth".

He also took the opportunity to praise women from Muslim community who have challenged the Tripal-Talaq.

Modi spoke about the controversial "triple talaq" issue and thanked those who have been working on the campaign.

On infrastructure, the Prime Minister said road and rail construction is progressing at a double pace and the government is taking the nation on a new track.
