Whilst Palace manager Frank de Boer will now have to consider whether to stick with a three-man defence or switch to four at the back for his side's trip to Anfield next weekend.

In gearing up for their first crack at the Premier League, the Terriers brought in striker Steve Mounie from Ligue 1 side Montpellier for £11 million, midfielder Aaron Mooy from Manchester City for £8 million, forward Tom Ince from Derby County for £10 million and winger Elias Kachunga from Ingolstadt for £11 million. It will be up to Wagner to get the most out of his defence as the attack could struggle to find the back of the net.

"We said last season very often, over a long, long time, it's unrealistic for Huddersfield Town to be in the Premier League".

"The performance was good today and the result excellent", he said.

"With the togetherness and fighting attitude we had, and the idea to keep them away from goal by pressing them as high as possible, we were fearless enough to try to press them high and over the game our game plan worked". In the summer, Huddersfield held 7 friendly fights preparing for the start in the elite, scored 3 wins, and lost two games in two matches.

De Boer's appointment may signal a change in philosophy as the Dutch manager has already made his player development intentions known in the transfer market.

Jairo Riedewald, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Timothy Fosu-Mensah have all recently arrived at Selhurst Park and it has been confirmed all three have been included in the matchday squad for the visit of the Terriers.

"If we achieve that, I'm as happy as when I lifted a trophy".

Huddersfield are in the top flight for the first time since 1972 and open their campaign at Palace on Saturday.

For every way in which it may have been wonderful for Wagner, it would have been a concern for De Boer.

Ahead of his sides' opening fixture, the Dutchmen insists that he doesn't feel the need to prove a point to anyone despite moving to a new league.
