Netflix Renews GLOW for Second Season

GLOW, aka the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, now has one season on the streaming service and ever since it was released back in June, audiences have continued to fall in love with it. Brie stars as Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress who auditions for GLOW as a last-ditch attempt to break into the industry. "Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann are executive producers alongside Flahive and Mensch, who are serving as showrunners".

The announcement was made on the show's official Twitter account, with a brief message reading: "Here we #GLOW again..."

The show has been cleared for a second run of 10 episodes, meaning more over-the-top characters like "Zoya The Destroya", "The Welfare Queen" (played by ex-WWE star Kia Stevens) and Marc Maron's cynical portrayal of director Sam Sylvia. GLOW, or Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, was inspired by a female wrestling league and accompanying TV show of the same name from the late '80s. Although the promotion was a cult hit, it couldn't evolve into a larger franchise, like Vince McMahon's juggernaut WWE.

GLOW is one of several new Netflix original series from 2017 that survived cancellation so far. GLOW Season 2 shouldn't be a surprise.
