IPhone 8 Home & "Function Area" Revealed

We knew the iPhone 8 was going to be big, but we may now know exactly how large Apple's next smartphone will be.

A video uploaded on Thursday, August 10 offers a close-up with an alleged "iPhone 8" design dummy in "copper gold", potentially one of just three color options for Apple's upcoming flagship, AppleInsider says. The iPhone 7, while a handsome smartphone, left many Apple users unimpressed.

Mark Gurman, another well-known Apple insider, replied saying the image above represents "a good look at the notch" of the iPhone 8.

KAZINFORM Independent developer Steve Troughton-Smith has discovered the principle of the virtual Home button from the accidentally-released HomePod firmware, he said on Twitter.

We reported this week that supply chain sources have claimed that the iPhone 8 and new iPhone models have entered mass production.

The large empty space shown in the photo appears to be for a large L-shaped, which together with the wireless charging coil and logic board design should lead to an improved battery life for the iPhone 8.

The HomePod software has already alerted Apple watchers to plans for a complex new facial recognition system, as well as slow motion 4K video recording with both rear and front facing cameras.

UX designer Maksim Petriv has created some mockups showing different approaches Apple could take to cope with the notch, and how these might look in different apps.

The screen of the iPhone 8 should also be better than the iPhone 7's. Apple is rumored to be using an OLED screen for what will be its newest device.

Because it doesn't have any bezels, the iPhone 8 has a screen similar to that of the iPhone 7 Plus, despite being only slightly bigger than the normal iPhone 7.
