Barcelona have rejected Manchester United's audacious swoop for utility man Sergi Roberto, who is also attracting the interest of Chelsea.

Inter's Ivan Perisic, Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Monaco's Fabinho were reportedly on his radar but now Mundo Deportivo says the Portuguese has switched his attentions to Roberto.

Sergi Roberto's ability to play in so many different positions means he ticks both boxes and Conte feels he could slot into his Chelsea side seamlessly and begin providing the squad depth he so desperately requires. Luis Enrique was in dire need of a right-back since the departure of Dani Alves, especially with Aleix Vidal failing to impress the manager.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Red Devils are kicking the tires on making a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto. His release clause is £36m. Despite last year's Europa League victory the club slumped to a sixth place finish and looked bereft of ideas across the Premier League season.

Yet the 25-year-old's playing time could be limited by Nelson Semedo's arrival and the potential move of Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande.

Chelsea are also reported to be keen on the versatile star, who will go down in history for scoring the winning goal in the Blaugrana's incredible comeback against PSG, beating them 6-1 in Champions League action.

The rumour mill had Jose Mourinho already opening talks with Roberto, too. The club has declared Roberto a non-transferable player and rejected the bid.
