Season 3 of 'Mr. Robot' promises dark times ahead in trailer

United States of America has released the first Mr. Robot Season 3 trailer.

Plus, USA released a first-look photo of new cast addition Bobby Cannavale (Nurse Jackie, Boardwalk Empire) in character as Irving: a laconic, no-nonsense used vehicle salesman. Season 2 caught up with Elliot in the aftermath of that drastic act, seemingly retired from hacking and living a mundane, routine, life.

The footage is bleak and intense and it seems that this is going to be the most intense season of the show.

The trailer opens with the lyrics of the Leonard Cohen song 'Democracy'.

Mr. Robot is one of the top six, if not top five, TV shows on television.

The trailer was unlocked by fans through a viral marketing campaign, taking the form of a social media scavenger hunt orchestrated by the network.

The trailer teases what appears to be the darkest season yet for the show. The official WhoisMrRobot twitter account began a tweet storm, revealing clues driving to a private URL revealing the exclusive trailer and premiere date. Hopefully, creator, writer, and director Sam Esmail can find his way in season 3.0 and the magic of season one.

The deep Season 2 ensemble also coming back for more also includes Christian Slater (as the enigmatic Mr. Robot himself), Carly Chaikin (as Elliot's sister Darlene), Portia Doubleday (intrepid double-crosser Angela), Grace Gummer (FBI Dom DiPierro) and Martin Wallström (loyalty-shifting ex-SVP Tyrell Wellick). The critically acclaimed, award-winning drama will return for its third season on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT.
