Latvia to see partial lunar eclipse next week

The last lunar eclipse of this year will be on Monday August 7, where it will be occurring during full moon of Hijric month "Dhul- Qa'da", Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced.

The World Astronomical Center (ADEC) based in Abu Dhabi said Sunday that a partial eclipse of the moon would occur on Monday evening, state news agency WAM reported.

The shadow of the earth cast by the sunlight will have one darker shadow or umbra and a lighter shadow or penumbra. The best conditions for observing the eclipse will be in eastern Latvia where the sun will be setting a bit sooner. Eclipse Begins - 10.52 pm; Maximum Phase of the Eclipse - 11.50 pm; Eclipse Ends - 12.50 am.Total Duration of the Eclipse Referring to Umbral and Penumbral Phases - 05h 1m.

Lunar and Solar eclipses happen in pairs, with the lunar eclipse happening within two weeks of a solar eclipse.

The partial lunar eclipses will be visible throughout most of Asia (including Qatar), Africa, Europe, Australia, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, Dr Beshir Marzouk of QCH said.
