Police in New Jersey are looking for a man they say was caught masturbating during a screening of The Emoji Movie at a cinema on opening day.

The Emoji Movie, Sony's animated comedy based on smartphone icons, features the voices of T. J. Miller, James Corden and Patrick Stewart.

Abraham Parnes, 43, surrendered to the Howell Police Department on Thursday after an anonymous tip led police to his identification.

Howell police released a photo of the man, described as a heavyset individual who had facial hair and was wearing a white dress shirt and black trousers.

On Friday, a woman who was at the Xscape theater on Rt.

She ran to theater management, who escorted Parnes out of the poorly rated film.

A mother with her children at the Xscape Movie Theater on Route 9 allegedly saw the suspect with his hands in his trousers during a showing of the film, according to New Jersey's News 12.

Police have released a photo of the suspect. Police were called later when the female witness returned home.
