Oscar Pistorius suffers heart attack?

The former blade-runner turned convicted murderer was rushed from his prison cell to a South African hospital after experiencing what was reported to be chest pains.

Oscar Pistorius has been taken from prison to a hospital for medical examinations and will be kept at the facility overnight.

Pistorius was taken from Atteridgeville Correctional Centre where he is serving a six year sentence for killing his partner Reeva Steenkamp, to Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria on Thursday (03Aug17) morning.

Family spokesman Johan van Wyk said Pistorius was "OK".

This is the second time Pistorius has left prison for medical treatment.

Pistorius was moved from the Kgosi Mampuru II Prison to the Atteridgeville Correctional Centre a year ago because it had better facilities to suit his needs.

Pistorius was jailed for six years in 2016 for murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Early reports suggest staff at the Atteridgeville Prison believed he had suffered a heart attack.

The year before he killed Steenkamp, Pistorius became the first double-amputee to race at Olympic level when he appeared at the London 2012 games.

It is the same hospital where he was treated for injuries to his wrists past year, according to Rekord East.

"I am not aware of [that report] or what he suffered from", a spokesman told Reuters news agency. He didn't want to discuss further information about his status until he could speak with Arnold Pistorius, his uncle. Pistorius' appeal to overturn the upgraded murder conviction was denied.
