Darron Gibson under microscope after expletive-ridden rant about Sunderland

Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson is set to face an internal disciplinary hearing after video footage has shown him going on a rant after his side's 5-0 loss to Celtic on Saturday.

Adamant that this was not the case, the former Manchester United and Everton midfielder liberally divulged his opinion to fellow revellers, proceeding to throw his teammates under the bus.

When the likes of Lamine Kone, Jeremain Lens and Whabi Kazri are suggested as three of the players that "don't give a fuck", Gibson seemingly agrees with the supporters before stating that he does want to be at the club, following criticism from one fan who seems to take umbrage with the Ireland worldwide being "off his head". There are too many people at the club who don't give a f**k.

"We're s***", Gibson is filmed saying.

"We will initiate our internal disciplinary process".

The 29-year-old was filmed slating his team-mates following their final pre-season friendly defeat to Celtic - a video that was subsequently posted on social media.

The statement added: "Darron has apologised this (Monday) morning".

Lamine Kone, Jermain Lens and Wahbi Khazri were the three players he identified as not giving a 'f***' about the team. It's just stupidity in this day and age.

"I mean for him to say those things he's a renegade isn't he?"

He said: "Poor Simon Grayson, he's got a hard enough job on". I don't think it's a sackable offence.

It always pays to look beyond what you see, and some fans have noted that Gibson might actually need help, rather than scorn, following being caught in such an uncompromising situation.
