The two-month-old baby, whose full name is Justin Trudeau Adam Bilan was seen happily sleeping as the prime minister held him at the Calgary Stampede breakfast on Saturday.

Ms Hammoud told Canadian broadcaster CBC meeting the man who inspired her son's name and gave them their new life in Canada was an wonderful experience. And in an adorable twist of fate, Justin Trudeau and Justin Trudeau Adam Bilan got to meet at the Calgary Stampede rodeo this weekend, the BBC reports.

Afraa Hajj Hammoud and Mohammed Belal left Syria six years ago, and lived in Lebanon for three years before heading to Canada as refugees. Between then and January 2017, more than 40,000 Syrian refugees have been resettled in Canada.

At the time, Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal's mother said they were grateful to the prime minister for bringing so many Syrian refugees to Canada. "I love him, because he knows what humanity means", Hammoud told the CBC.

Following US president Donald Trump's ban on immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, Mr Trudeau wrote on social media that his government remained committed to helping "those fleeing persecution, terror & war".

Born to Syrian refugees who immigrated in February 2016, Bilal's parents chose the moniker out of appreciation for the current PM.
