Security forces killed three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists during an encounter in Satora area of Tral in south Kashmir.

Tral is the hometown of slain Burhan Wani, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander, who was killed by security forces on July 8 last year triggering a wave of unrest in the Valley for almost a year. The exact outfit is not known but most probably they are foreign militants. The encounter began on Saturday night, few kilometers from Tral town when Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)?and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants opened fire on security forces conducting a search operation. Sources said that Touseef Ahmad was picked up by police for questioning following inputs that he is in touch with the terrorists.

Intelligence reports available with Army suggest that there are 100 to 120 militants in the Valley.

Meanwhile, people took to the streets in the Satoora area of Tral to protest against the army operation. The encounter comes few days after the terrorist attack on a bus carrying the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims that killed seven in Anantnag.

On Friday, a terrorist was arrested in the Sambal area of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. A pistol, ammunition, four grenades and a knife were recovered from him.
