Wadood ranked third on the team in tackles last season with 76.

Safety Dravon Askew Henry was named the Thorpe Award watch list given out to the nations top defensive back. The award is named in honor of multi-sport legend Jim Thorpe. Thorpe excelled not only as a running back, passer, and kicker on the offensive side of the ball; but also stood out as a defensive back. He also played professional baseball and won Olympic gold medals in the decathlon and pentathlon.

Reed tallied a pass breakup or interception in 10 of his 13 games previous year - including a season-high four deflections at Baylor and another three the next week against Kansas - and returned one of his interceptions 35 yards for a touchdown against Texas Tech en route to Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors. Blanding has finished the past three seasons No. 2 in the ACC in tackles and his 358 career stops now ranks No. 9 all-time in the UVA annals. He was a Freshman All-American first team selection in 2015 while leading the Trojans in interceptions and deflections.

Last season, Flowers recorded 61 tackles, two tackles for a loss and forced and recovered a fumble.

Earlier this week, Wingard was selected to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

The Wildcats begin their seven-game home schedule and 2017 season slate on Saturday, September 2, against Central Arkansas, a game that serves as the ninth-annual K-State Family Reunion.
