PDP chairmanship loss: I'm still in shock - Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff

He said they had no "Plan B".

The governor said it was his intention to carry out the act within the court premises.

"Although I believe that we remain the same PDP family, no one can cause our party such pains and embarrassment and expect that he will go without being asked to account for his actions".

However, the APC spokesman said that since the last Wednesday's verdict, "we noticed that several of his supporters and party members have expressed similar sentiments". "Whoever that participated in this charade must show some reasonable level of remorse for his actions".

"Makarfi's farm by the EFCC 'less than two hours after the Supreme Court judgment".

The apex court delivered its ruling Tuesday after it dismissed a petition by the Ali Modu-Sheriff faction in May challenging the suit of the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee before it.

Makarfi, Sunday Vanguard authoritatively gathered, has impressed it on state chapters of the party now engulfed in one crisis or the other to give peace a chance, and warned that going forward, the party must ensure that all bickering are laid to rest, especially with the 2019 general elections in mind. Our doors are open for everyone, including those who are not members of the PDP.

Alkali stated that he was confident that nobody would be shut out of the party for the role played during the crisis, especially those who he observed left the PDP out of anger.

In a statement at the weekend, Dickson urged sacked chairman Ali Modu Sheriff to support Makarfi. "Rivers State is the strongest PDP state".

However, the PDP will have to re-invent itself by putting its house in order, and see the judgement as a no victor, no vanquished verdict, particularly, as it has brought sanity and stability to Nigeria's political system. "I urge all contending parties in the PDP to embrace peace and genuine reconciliation and support the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of our party with a view to organizing an all- inclusive National Unity Convention", the statement read. "Without such support, genuine reconciliation can not take place; without such support, the Caretaker Committee will have a herculean task organizing an acceptable convention, without genuine reconciliation, the party can not move forward".

The Governor said that the prolonged PDP leadership crisis was avoidable in the first place, and believed that the PDP leaders had learnt their lessons, hoping that the PDP leadership would put in place measures to forestall re-occurrence of the needles crisis and litigations.

"As we can see now, 2019 election will be a walkover in our favour. We are awaiting the written judgment and wait for the advise of our lawyers", he said.
