Michael Floyd Reportedly Receives Four-Game Suspension After DUI Arrest

The receiver said the positive alcohol test was due to drinking large amounts of Kombucha tea, a strong fermented drink containing natural alcohol.

The Vikings put out a statement Friday saying Floyd will miss the first four games of the season and will be eligible to return to the team's active roster on Monday, Oct. 2.

The Vikings wide receiver pled guilty to an extreme driving under the influence (DUI) case back in December 2016 in Arizona, a sentencing that concluded his five-year stint with the Cardinals.

"Do I believe it?" This suspension is stemming from a failed alcohol test during Floyd's probation period after the DUI he received earlier in the year. "I have no clue", Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said this week before the suspension was handed down. "I don't have any doubt why there'd be scepticism, but he told me that he wasn't (drinking)".

Bryant was suspended four games in 2015 and the entire following season for violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

Zimmer also said he warned Floyd that he would be released if the coach learned Floyd was lying about the alcohol.

Aside from this, the judge ordered Floyd not to drink alcohol and to attend alcohol counseling and perform 30 hours of community service, on top of paying a fine of $5,115.99. So, again, this is the best case scenario and while I still have my doubts about his ability to stay sober, this is super encouraging news for the Vikings pass game (again, should nothing terrible happen during the rest of the off-season or training camp, Koren Robinson style).
