Special kitchen for Sasikala: Karnataka CM orders probe

He said that the DIG who made the allegations did not know the rules and that he was only following court orders.

JD (S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said the government ought to have asked both Roopa and her boss at the Parappana Agrahara prison before launching a probe into conditions in the jail.

AIADMK chief VK Sasikala is allegedly getting VIP treatment in jail by paying a bribe of Rs 2 crore.

"I am told that Rs 2 crores were given in bribes to provide special privileges to her and unfortunately the allegation is on you", the report addressed to DGP Prisons, HN Satyanarayana Rao says. She added that she will cooperate if a fair probe is initiated. "I have served a memo to her (Roopa) seeking explanation and evidence to prove her wild allegations".

She had also revealed that special treatment also being extended to Abdul Karim Telgi, convicted in fake stamp paper scam.

State Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra has promised to launch a probe and take action, if necessary. "I didn't speak to media originally, the DG gave the details".

On being questioned on her work and the claim that she has not fulfilled her duty properly, Roopa said she was on a government-sanctioned leave.

Sasikala has been lodged at the Parappana Agrahara central jail here since her conviction in February in a disproportionate assets case along with her two relatives, V N Sudhakaran and Elavarasi, all serving a four-year jail term.

The CM reportedly discussed the issue with senior police officers and ordered an enquiry.

"These violations of prison rules have come to your notice, and there are talks of Rs 2 crore having been given as bribe for the same". Mr. Rao reiterated that the allegations were baseless.

"Charges are levelled by senior officials, which will have a lot of implications".

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Kumaraswamy said, "What kind of administration is this?"

He maintained that there was no report submitted to anybody, including a verbal one.
