Domestic helps attack society in Noida

Local villagers gather at a housing society to protest after a domestic help was allegedly beaten by her employers on suspicion of theft in Noida on Wednesday.

Her employers, a couple who lives in the society with their seven-year-old daughter, have accused Bibi of stealing Rs 10,000 and also alleged that she confessed to having committed the crime.

The members of the society managed to save the Sethis from the mob and based on their complaint an FIR has been lodged against those responsible for assaulting the residents and stone pelting, police said.

Meanwhile, the family of the resident, say residents, is in trauma after the mob that breached the gates of the society wielding sticks and rods, also entered their house and created a ruckus.

The protesters also blocked the main Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road at Barola and halted traffic towards Noida Phase 2 Industrial Area.

"The maid's husband, Babu Khan, along with police had gone to Sethi's house on Tuesday night to inquire about Zohra, but they were told that she had left", SP (City) Arun Kumar Singh said.

However, a resident has been quoted as claiming by the report that the maid was caught stealing from one of the apartments and was handed over to police.

The employers, according to news reports, had alleged that the maid had stolen money from them. I spoke to her a while back and she confirmed she was locked up in a room the whole day [not in the boot of the vehicle as my original post said].

When stopped by the security guards, the mob started pelting stones. "We waited all night outside the society for her". On Wednesday morning, a few people went with me to the society and asked where my wife was. They ended their protest only after police intervention.

According to Harshu Sethi, when she confronted Zohra for stealing the money, the latter got scared and fled from the house.

Due to scuffle, the residents of the society remained indoors and students were not able to go to school on time. We slept assuming the issue was over, but in the morning they came in groups and entered my house by breaking the door glass.
