The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens' hippopotamus family swam together for the first time on Tuesday, July 11.

Fiona was the first Nile hippo born at the Cincinnati Zoo in 75 years.

"BiFi (the power duo name that's being used for Bibi and Fiona) was joined by Henry this morning for the first time", they wrote. "The introduction lasted about an hour, and we couldn't be more pleased about how it went".

Fiona, pictured, had a premature birth this January. "Bibi intervened when Henry got too close to Fiona, which was exactly what we were hoping to see." .

"It has taken nearly six months to reach this major milestone, and it feels great", Gorsuch said.

While Fiona and Bibi have been getting to know each other, Henry has kept his distance. The care team was there to supervise.

"Our animal care staff got Fiona through health hurdles and overcame curveballs to get us where we are now". The normal range is 55-120 pounds.

Continuing, the zoo said these introductions would continue until she is fully out (although she'll still be able go inside if she wants).

Fiona the hippo from the Cincinnati Zoo has gained a significant fan following on social media, as the Zoo generously posts updates about her development and favorite things to do at the zoo. Now, the little newcomer weighs a very healthy 170 kilos and seems to be enjoying her time splashing around with mum and dad.
