Vegas Play of the Day: Lakers vs. Sixers in NBA Summer League

After a disappointing pre-season debut followed by an OK encore, Lonzo Ball finally had his breakout summer league game and officially put Big Baller Brand on the map with a 36 point, 11 assist, and 8 rebound performance last night.

Of course, reporters had to ask him why he wasn't wearing the $495 ZO2 Prime.

Ball told reporters afterward he wanted to emulate former Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and embrace a "Mamba mentality". "Thought I'd switch it is good", he told ESPN.

"When you're a big baller, you can wear whatever you want", he said via TNT's David Aldridge.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers had one of the better games of the Las Vegas Summer League on Wednesday night. If Ball and his teammates perform as they did tonight, they will be very hard to beat. He grabbed four rebounds, had two assists and scored seven of his team's first 11 points after starting the game.

Finally, the moment that we all have been waiting for Lavar Ball, will make his National Basketball Association debut. Ball did it all, scoring, passing, defending, and getting to the free-throw line.

His next opportunity to shine comes against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night in the round of 16 of the Summer League playoffs.

All-Rookie selection Buddy Hield and No. 5 pick De'Aaron Fox sat out, then college player of the year Frank Mason left after 4 minutes with an apparent ankle injury.

While it's hard to say whether the different shoes were the reason for Ball's improved performance, he went on ESPN's SportsCenter after the game and explained his decision to sport the Nike kicks instead of his BBB ones.

Lonzo played pretty tough to start the game, but his level of play got to the next level especially towards the end of the game in super clutch situations.
