Ed Sheeran sells over 300000 tickets and breaks history

Over 300,000 tickets for his dates in Dublin, Galway, Belfast and Cork were sold today after the tickets went on sale at 9am, but if you're quick you could snap up the last few. Face value tickets are between £55 and £88.

Due to large amounts of traffic on Ticketmaster websites, many fans trying to get their hands on a ticket for next year's gigs found themselves staring at a Ticketmaster screen with the message "Searching. sit tight".

Others reportedly queued overnight outside Ticketmaster outlets and other retailers hoping they would have better luck.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Saturday), and while some outlets around the country have had fans queuing since last night, the same won't be happening here - until later anyway. Ed Sheeran has been a phenomenal success, already breaking all our previous records.

Ticketmaster responded on Twitter, and urged fans not to give up and not to refresh the page as the site was very busy.

Granted, we don't have access to Ed's bank account, but he must be absolutely minted because tickets for his 2018 Divide tour have sold out in a matter of minutes. "Stay in the queue and don't refresh!"

Ed will kick off his Irish concerts at Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork on May 4 and 5 before heading to the Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast on May 9.

If it's a case where a parent bought the tickets on their credit card for their child, the child will need to present a copy of the card as well as ID showing the family name.

The company has limited the number of tickets each person can buy to four.
