The versatile left-back is set to join the Gunners on a five-year-deal on 1 July when the summer transfer window officially opens.

"Subject to the completion of all regulatory processes, the defender will start pre-season training in July", an official statement on the club website read.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, the 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina worldwide thanked the Bundesliga club and their fans, while claiming he turned down "many financial offers from large European clubs" in the January transfer window.

Left-back Nacho Monreal says he wants to stay at Arsenal for the next three years, reports the Evening Standard. Shortly after the announcement, the 23-year-old German-born Bosnia and Herzegovina worldwide took to Facebook to thank his fans and talk about the move. "Arsenal has always been a club that is well recognised in Europe and I'm pleased to be here", Arsenal.com quoted Kolasinac as saying.

Kolasinac is expected to be a regular starter under Arsene Wenger and after a brilliant season in Germany it's easy to see why. "I believe that our squad is very strong and we will only look for top-class people who can strengthen our team now".

Kolasinac, 23, can also play on the left wing and was a starring feature in Schalke's season.

"I'm aware that football can change, but I'm happy, I played the majority of games, I've felt important and I've felt good".
