The X Venture sure sounds a lot like Samsung's Active line, though it'll be much cheaper.

LG has launched its Entry level Android phone LG X Venture Rugged. It's made for people who are active and it's cheap enough that, if you're on AT&T, you could probably grab one as a backup simply for adventurous weekends.

The LG X venture also adds extra physical buttons, created to make it easier to launch apps and adjust settings during times when easy access is important. To reach that goal, the smartphone features IP68 water and dust resistance. Users will also find that the X Venture has NFC, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.2 support, and because it's a device meant for adventures it'll have a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera for images, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat.

Its other specifications may leave a bit to be desired, however, especially if you're eager for flagship-worthy specs.

AT&T appears to have a thing for rugged smartphones.

Coming to AT&T in the USA starting May 26, and to Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America in the weeks that follow, this phone looks to bring solid performance and protection both against theft with its fingerprint sensor and against the elements with its IP68 rating.

The LG X venture also features a dedicated "QuickButton", which can be mapped to any app on the phone. Exclusive to AT&T, the 5.2-inch handset might not be able to keep up with the G6 in the speed department (it only features a Snapdragon 435 processor), but what it lacks in performance, it makes up for in durability. In addition to measuring resistance to extreme temperatures, shock and water, the LG X venture was repeatedly immersed in 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes and passed with flying colors.
