Russia-Syria Ties to Dominate G7 Meeting of Foreign Ministers

In an interview with "Fox News Sunday", McMaster said, "Russia should ask themselves, 'What are we doing here?"

Gabbard said: "Why should we just blindly follow this escalation of a counterproductive regime-change war?"

"You used the initials, but I think that's a first for Meet The Press", a stunned Chuck Todd said immediately after.

Britain said Russian Federation bore responsibility by proxy for civilian deaths in Syria caused by the chemical weapons attack in which at least 70 were killed.

"Here's what I think Assad is telling Trump by flying from this base: F-U", Graham said.

He also reiterated Tehran's position that the crisis in Syria must be settled politically.

Haley noted that ousting Assad was not the US's only priority.

"Haley indicated in an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" that the United States does not see a peaceful political resolution for Syria's civil war as long as Assad remains in power". Still, Haley said the USA didn't see a peaceful future Syria with Assad in power.

"You saw this awful tragedy on innocent people, a lot of them children, and the first reaction from Russian Federation wasn't 'how frightful, ' it wasn't 'how could they do this, ' it wasn't 'how did this happen, ' it was: 'Assad didn't do it.' Why was that the reaction?" Those were put in place over the situation in Ukraine and Crimea, Tillerson said, adding that until the issues in that region are addressed, "sanctions will remain in place".

Much will obviously depend on how USA policy develops in Syria.

A United States defence official also clarified that the strikes conducted by the nation were not meant to damage runways or fully disable the Syria base.

The official said that the United States hadn't been able to determine whether Syria or Russian Federation was operating the drone, but confirmed on Monday it was Russian Federation.

That chemical attack left at least 70 civilians dead, including women and children. Washington has blamed Bashar al-Assad's government for the attack, but the accusation has been denied by the Syrian as well as the Russian authorities.

The comments represented a departure from what she had said before the U.S. attacked a Syrian air base with 59 Tomahawk missiles on Thursday.

Why was Syria's Shayrat airbase bombed?

The terrorists have access to the chemical weapons and the USA missile attacks will lead to use of such weapons again, the Iranian president predicted.

But he warned against a "one-time deal" and argued Assad's murderous behavior goes beyond using chemical weapons against his people.
