Fiala, Preds Top Blackhawks In OT For 3-0 Series Lead

Nashville scored before the first TV timeout in both games in Chicago, enabling the Predators to roll four lines and three defense pairings while making the Blackhawks chase the game. The top-seeded Blackhawks are in must-win territory when they visit the upstart Nashville Predators in Game 3 on Monday night.

If there is any similarity between then and now it's the Blackhawks' mantra, which is the one any team takes when it's down 3-0 in a series.

Here are two things favoring the Blackhawks as they try to dig out of a 2-0 deficit in their best-of-seven Western Conference first-round playoff matchup with the Predators: Chicago's winning pedigree and the fact that Nashville blew a similar advantage past year against the Anaheim Ducks before winning in seven games. "I think our guys, they don't have a confidence issue when it comes to scoring goals".

And it worked out fine for the Predators, who won 3-2 to put themselves on the brink of the second round. "I haven't scored a goal in two games - not acceptable". Which they eventually stumbled across a little over a minute into the second period as Dennis Rasmussen managed to poke one past Pekka Rinne, ending his magnificent streak of 141+ minutes of shutout hockey and giving the Hawks their first lead of the series... which Patrick Kane doubled about 10 minutes later.

There's no probably about it: The Hawks need Kane to unleash his inner "Showtime" and take over Game 4 on Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena - and beyond.

But the Blackhawks, winners of three Stanley Cup titles in the past seven years, now trail 0-3 for the first time since the 2011 quarterfinals.

The margin for error has become so thin for the Hawks that they couldn't overcome a close call that went against them for the game-tying goal.

That being said, Chicago's anthem still reigns supreme across the National Hockey League.

Asked if this group can bounce back, Quenneville had a short answer: "We're going to have to".

"It's not easy", captain Jonathan Toews said. It was his second goal in as many games, and was the biggest goal of the Swiss forward's career.

Washington lost home-ice advantage on Kasperi Kapanen's double overtime victor in Game 2, but coach Barry Trotz and his players aren't in panic mode.

Fiala finally converted on his third chance in overtime. Neal found Fiala positioned perfectly between four Chicago defenders, but Crawford was just able to get his pad on the puck. Crawford also got a toe on a shot from Fiala in the slot with 6:00 left. Fiala would have the last laugh putting it past the Chicago netminder after a poorly placed Marian Hossa drop pass with 3:16 remaining in the first overtime. "I was pretty angry, I could have finished it there, but never mind, we won". She gave a breathtaking performance of the National Anthem during an NHL playoff game April. 17 while wearing her husband's Nashville Predators jersey.
