Nokia 6 starts getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat update

HMD Global made it pretty clear that it will roll out the monthly security patches alongside software updates quite regularly to all of its phones. The update brings various new features which include shortcut support on home screen, new and updated emojis, bug fixing and more. Some preloaded apps on the smartphone also get updated.

Many details about the new Nokia 9 have been known in previous days, which will undoubtedly be the flagship of the Finnish firm and will serve as a touchstone to know to what extent the return of the brand will bring to their terminals, and whether they will also offer innovative products. Nokia 6 finally joins the privileged list alongside Nexus and Pixel devices, which have already been updated to latest Nougat firmware.

The update began rolling out to Nokia 6 units over the weekend, so it might be available for most Nokia 6 units by now. The new Nougat version for the device weighs 369MB but needs at least 620MB free storage in order to install the update.

Not only does it upgrade the phone's OS to Android 7.1.1, but also adds support for 4G/3G dual sim dual standby. The new update was spotted on Twitter by The Android Soul with the new build number 00CN_3_170. Globally, the price of the Nokia 6 is Euros 229 and the ARTE edition carries a tag of Euros 299.

Besides, there are various rumours claiming that Nokia will launch the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and the Nokia 3310 in India by the end of May or early June. It is expected to hit the global market in the second half of 2017. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and comes equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5GHz Cortex A53) processor, along with Adreno 505 GPU.
